President’s Message: Vickie Palardy
Dear Sister Zontians and Friends,
I am hoping that all are having a wonderful and healthy winter with all of the flu and sickness around. Spring is getting closer every day.
The speaker at this month’s meeting is Gloria Bouillon the manager of Pittsfield Airport. Thank you, Keye Hollister, for finding us such interesting and engaging speakers.
All the clubs in Western MA are taking part in the 2018 Period Project in the next couple of months. Feminine products are costly and are not covered by SNAP or WIC. For some women, that time of the month could not come at a worse time. Please help us raise awareness and collect pads, tampax, panty liners, soap, wipes, and underwear. We are also accepting cash donations to be used to purchase items in short supply. Drop-off locations are at Berkshire Medical Center (Cheryl Maselli), Berkshire Board of Realtors (Sandy) and I will pick up items if necessary. On Saturday, March 17th from 9-12, we will gather at the Berkshire Board of Realtors office on West Street to assemble monthly kits. I have asked people from different organizations to send a representative to participate with us and to be able to take these kits back to their pro- grams.
A couple of days ago I participated in meeting with Millie and all of our area presidents via call to Meeting to begin planning the spring workshop. She is looking for two members from each group to form a committee to help in the planning. It was recommended that we include one newer member from each club to be one of the two. The spring workshop is held usually in April on a Saturday. The date has not yet be confirmed but April 7th is a good possibility.
International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day is March 8th. If you have not already given to the Zonta International Foundation please consider doing so for International Women’s Day. If you were at our Fall Conference you know about all the worthwhile projects ZI finds. I will have donation papers at the meeting to mail or you may just go to the ZI website and donate online. No amount is too small.
In March, Dues invoices will go out so that you can plan for your next fiscal year’s dues commitment. Dues will remain the same as last year with our club paying an additional $5.00 to District. The club must submit dues to ZI and District by the end of May.
Sincerely, Vickie Palardy
